Complete visa information for Indian passport holders
Indian passport holders require a US visitor visa unless eligible under another specific US entry category.
Indian citizens need a B1/B2 visitor visa for tourism, family visits and short business trips to the United States. The process starts with the online DS-160 form and the USD 185 visa fee, followed by a biometrics appointment and an in-person interview. Applicants from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh are interviewed at the US Consulate General in Hyderabad.
The biggest challenge is waiting time. In September 2026, the US State Department estimated about 12 months for the next B1/B2 interview appointment in Hyderabad, so plan family events, graduations and business trips well ahead. Some renewals may qualify for an interview waiver, for example if your previous B1/B2 visa is still valid or expired within the last 12 months and was issued when you were 18 or older.
B1/B2 visas for Indians are commonly issued for up to 10 years, but the officer decides the validity, and the length of each stay is decided at the US port of entry. At the interview, be ready to explain your trip simply and show your ties to India: job, business, family and property. We fill your DS-160 with you, book the appointments and run a practice interview.
